The Hunt Begins

Moscow is a very trendy place. People wear nice clothes, especially women and dirty shoes are a character flaw. So it was very surprising to see a mullet amongst the trendy elite. And it's even more surprising to see it on a woman.

But ladies and gentleman, i'm told that the aptly titled "Euro Mullet" is the epitome of fashion. And that a few privelaged women have been sighted sporting this unique and exclusive style. It is the new aim of this month to capture a photo of one such fashion and share it with you, the valued listeners.
We will attempt to find the secrets of the "Euro Mullet". What makes it so alluring and empowering to the wearer? Why is it so rare and where did it come from? We won't rest until we find out and have shared it with you. Stay tuned.

I Dear Matt.
. WELL IT`S ABOUT TIME I PUT FINGER TO COMPUTER AND SEND A BIT OF MELBOURNE NEWS.AT THE MOMENT I AM HAVING DIFFICULTY GETTING AWAY FROM CAPITAL LETTERS MAINLY BECOS` I DON`T USE THIS DEVICE OFTEN ENOUGH.hOWEVER IT IS GREAT TO SEE YOU ARE ACCLIMATISING SO WELL THE SECOND TIME AROUND.

AT PRESENT WE ARE WATCHING THE TENNIS FROM THE AUSTRALIAN OPEN AT ROD LAVER ARENA.THE TEMPERATURE IS CURRENTLY HOVERING AROUND THE 30C.,HUMIDITY IS VERY HIGH AND CONDITIONS ARE RATHER UNPLEASANT TO SAY THE LEAST. THE RUSSIANS,BOTH MEN & WOMEN ARE CURRENTLY ACQUITTING THEMSELVES VERY WELL ALONG WITH MOST OF THE EUROPEAN NATIONS.uNFORTUNATELY DURING MONDAY`S PLAY ,THE CROATIAN AND THE SERBIAN SPECTATORS GOT INTO A PUNCH UP AND THINGS GOT QUITE UGLY AND DANGEROUS FOR A WHILE.tHE POLICE EVENTUALLY SORTED IT OUT AND EJECTED ALL THE TROUBLEMAKERS FROM THE VENUE,HOWEVER THERE IS A PROPOSED SERB/CROAT MATCH DUE TODAY SO HOSTILITIES COULD START ALL OVER AGAIN.THE HEAT IS TAKING IT`S TOLL ON ALL THE PLAYERS AND AS NO DOUBT YOU HAVE SEEN ON THE MOSCOW NEWS MARIA SHARAPOVA WAS QUITE OVERCOME BY THE CONDITIONS AND ALMOST DID`NT MAKE IT PAST THE FIRST ROUND. AT THE MOMENT I AM WATCHING THE ROGER FEDERER MATCH AND AS USUAL HE IS DEMOLISHING HIS OPPONENT IN 3 SETS AND MOVES NOW INTO THE THIRD ROUND.Nana is having a little snooze in front of the t.v. .The temp. is starting to climb again and high 30`s days are forecast for the next few days. Nan and I have been ruthlessly stripping shrubs and flowers out of the garden as it`s pretty pointless using precious water keeping them going.I propose to put a thick layer of wood chips the area on the left and right as you come up the steps onto the patio.I have taken about 12 barrow loads of soil from the samearea and disstributed it elsewhere around the garden.I was hoping to get it delivered and the job done over the coming weekend with the help of Gerard but the proposed forecast of extremely hot conditions will put paid to that.I I don`t think I will be indulging in a mullet job,it`s just too darn hot!Very impressed with your recipe,I have to get Nana on to whipping one up one of these nights. That`s it for the moment.Sorry there is not a lot of more interesting news to impart, but apart from the weather and the tennis and the weekly game of golf, life is much the same.I see Moscow is starting to live up to it`s reputation as a snowbound city according to SBS here. Keep cool ,all our love etc. to yourself and Sveta and we look forward to more blogs in the future. This is Radio Quirksnaya signing off for now. Grampa & Nana.

Dear Grandpa and Nana,

THanks for the tennis update. WE have cable tv now and Euro Sports is broadcasting matches around the clock, unfortunately we haven't had the time really to indulge in watching it. AusOpen is also getting write ups in a few papers here. Although I don't think too many people here would cry (especially women) if Sharapova didn't survive the weather. Many don't seem to like her for some reason. Nobody like Kournikova either. At least Sharapova can actually play tennis. :) :) Haven't worked out why people seem to feel this way.

Well I hope that you get your garden under control. I'm sure its a bit more difficult to enjoy now because of water restrictions and the weather being the way they are.

THe few people i've spoken to over the last few days can also testify to the toasty weather you guys are getting as of late.

To be honest, i'm quite happy with the temperature here as I'm not really a fan of the hot hot weather. Here, you can always put on more clothes. :) :)

Glad to hear everything is rather normal (I think some people don't give normal enough credit sometimes)

It's great to hear from you. Thanks for the Melbourne update and i'll try to keep you too up to date with the latest in Moscow antics. Take care of yourselves and we'll speak again soon.

Matt.

Hi Matthew & Sveta

Received your card from Latvia today (Friday 18th.May)!!! It would appear that the Post Office over there is still using carrier pigeons to deliver the mail., 24 days to come from Europe is a bit much.Perhaps they should be joining the E>U> ( they may already be in it). However it was very good of you to send same . It appears to be a rather colourful place ,judging by the card and also the blog received earlier this Month. At last we are receiving some much needed rain yto relieve the bad drought conditions right across the country. No doubt Mum has told you of our problems when she chats to you on the magic machine. We called in there this arvo. to have a chat and talk about the invitations to the Golden Wedding Anniversity turn we plan to have in August.Have worked out the invites to be about 62. so it should be a good turn.Plan to have it at the Jade Village Restaurant in Mitcham on Sunday the 12th. August which is reasonably accessible to most people. Last Sunday we had a Mothers Day turn at the Ringwood Chinese Rest. in (where else) Ringwood.Good tun, every body turned up and Gerard brought his photos from his Holiday in Peru. He said it was a pretty rugged trip thru. the jungle to Macchu Picchu , at times the altitude was 12000 feet, and breathing was a bit difficult, particularly for Nichole who has a bit of an asthma problem. However they had a ripper time and the memories will last them for some time. till playing golf each Wednesday with a couple of mates , who only want to play 9 holes. I manage to do the next nine ,but it`s getting a bit hard as the back nine has a few hills to contend with,be we`ll presss on until nature and the Arthritis makes it too difficult. Had the Mercedes Benz Club concours back in March, managed to collect an award for the show and shine section so a good time was had by all. Nana is having a rather rough time at present with the Asthma and the damp weather at present is not helping, but it is that time of year so we hope it does not lift it`s ugly head too much before winter ends. We hope your new job will turn out well for you and enable to to make lots of money as a result. How is Sveta going with her work ? I have`nt heard what she is doing at the moment,as Mother is not quite sure what she is engaged in , or else I was not listening closely enough when she mentioned it. The Formula 1 races are developing in to quite an interesting battle at present even at this early stage of the competition.Ferrari and McLaren Mercedes are having a good battle with Mercedes winning the fight at the moment. The leading driver is a black man whose father was born in (I think) Guinea. He has secured a place in each of the four races run to date and is currently leading the World Championship in his McLaren Mercedes.Great show.! Well thats about it from downtown Ringwood and din dins is about ready so I`ll get the bottle of Cab.Sav. out of the frig. and look forward to a quiet night. Thank you once again for the card.Every couple of weeks I buy a tin of Latvian Sprats, something like sardines but a lot more tasty, from the local I.G.A. Give `em a try , if you can get them in Moscow.Yummy ! Love from Gran`pa & Nana.

Dear Matt. & Sveta Well , It`s been a while since the last letter but this will be a short one anyway.Guess you are both feeling a little deflated after the "big trip ", but all that does is wet the appetite for the next one.! So how was Paris.? I suppose it would be much the same as when Nana & I were there in 1983. Eiffel tower trip, boat along the Seine ,trip to Notre Dame Cathedral etc. And the traffic ! Worse than Rome. However it was all worth the effort and expense.YES>? You have to grab these opportunities when they arrive. Anyway the more importan reason for the blog was to wish you a very happy birthday for last week even though it is a bit belated. How did you celebrate it on the day ? Romantic candle lit dinner etc.etc.? No doubt Mother has kept you up to scratch with the latest news, so all I have to report is the usual Golf days once & occasionally twice a week .Had a day out to Kyneton last week with the Mercedes Benz Club.Lunch there and a stroll around the town ,and the car ran extremely well there & back. Has now clocked up 288600 Kms. and is still as enjoyable to drive as when I bought it in July 1997. Well that`s about it for now, the steak is ready to be devoured after a hard day on the course despite the lousy winds today but at least "We`re out here." Give our love to Sveta and we trust her Mother and the rest of the family are all fit and well.Hope Vladimir is not giving you too hard a time ! Stay cool and best wishes till next time.Grandpa & Nana.
